Altobelli's Highest Paid Youngsters

Like any Game World, the wages for youths have exploded a bit in Altobelli. The youth wages are a bit of a disaster-area. Every decent PA newgen that appears is getting snapped up for silly money.

People fail to realise how much money this is costing them in the long run. 10k a day means 70k a week, 280k a season... For a 15 or 16 year old player, whose future is highly uncertain, as you need to nurture and develop this youngster. He won't be ready for regular first team football before he hits the age 20, so you're paying 1,12 to 1,4 million for this youth.

And let's not forget we're still not sure if the youngster can actually live up the high expectations. You're taking a huge, huge gamble when you pay wages like that to such young players.

So anyway, after my initial ranting, let's start our list of the ten highest paid newgens in the Altobelli GW.

1. Robert Paauwe - ST - 55,001 wages - Big-Time Charlies, manager Dean Smith

The undisputed number one of the list, topping at 55k wages a day. Let that sink in for a while... 55k... That means a 550k signing-on fee upon signing the player initially, as well as paying upto over 1.5 million a season in wages alone. The only thing more shocking than this is the fact that the initial bid was probably even higher.

Is he worth that? Well, the kid has sublime technical skills. He can dribble, he can head well and he has a classy finishing touch as well as superb technique. His mental stats are alright for a kid of this age but he seems to be lacking a bit in the physical department. It will be interesting to see how he develops.

2. Ladislav Spacil - AM/FC - 30,888 wages - Inter Matalan, manager Paul Andrews

Highly sought after, despite his only average potential ability. His superb stats more than make up for this. Spacil is now at his third club, after also having made a 3,25 million transfer earlier in his career. Mind you, that was before his killer wages kicked in, but still.

Spacil is a competent first team player already, despite only being 18 years old. He has developed a four star reputation as well, and his performances are very decent as well, both in the senior and the junior department. I'm quite tempted to say the kid actually warrants the wage he makes.

3. Dante Ledda - D/WBRL - 28,001 wages - The take over, manager Colin Barret

New mod boy Colin Barret splashed the cash on this polyvalent Italian wingback, signing him earlier this current season for 300k plus a 280k signin-on fee. An expensive investment in the future, but will it pay off for Colin?

Ledda is a fast wingback with a good pass and a superb technique, but he's lacking a bit in the physical department. His natural fitness is quite low and he's not that strong either. I'm not sure if I'd like a 28k a day defender who gets muscled off the ball a lot...

4. Alberto Murillo - DC - 25,001 wages - the tyrants, manager Si Jermyn

One of three players tied for fourth place in this list, the 16 year old is the highest ranked 16 year old in this list after his transfer to the tyrants. Taking into account it will take a few seasons to get him ready for first team duty, Si Jermyn will be paying at least 700k a season to develop this youngster.

Murillo seems to be a decent talent however. His positioning, anticipation and teamwork is extremely high for a kid of his age, so he will be a superb defender who can read the game well. With decent natural fitness, I expect his physical stats to develop quite a bit too. They will have to develop too if he ever wants to make a serious impact on a senior level, but the kid has the potential to get there.

-. Christophe Maurel - MC - 25,001 wages - Rednal Rangers, manager Daniel Jackson

The young Frenchman is another one of the 700k a season brigade, which seems like a bit of an expensive investment to me. I mean, 700k a season is the same wage as a nice 3,5 to 4 star reputation senior player...

Anyway, Maurel seems to actually be ready for senior football. His physical stats are well developed and he seems to be a decent all-round midfielder. He's obviously not top class yet, but he should be able to hold his own in senior football and every senior game he plays should aid his future development.

-. Adriano Ferreira Junior - GK - 25,001 wages - Hackburn Rovers, manager Colin Seabridge

The first goalie in the list is this young Brazian, who is already making a name for himself as being a bit of a journey-man. This is his fourth club in four seasons time. His transfers so far have been fairly cheap, the most expensive one being 90k, but maybe the big wage scared off quite a few people as well.

Either way, Adriano has seen regular first team football every season. All of his managers so far have given the tall Brazilian plenty of playing time and to be fair, he has re-paid them so far with very reliable performances. He's no Buffon, not yet anyway, but he does his job as well as any fairly decent senior goalie.

7. Massimo Clementini - DC - 25,000 wages - The Town, manager Scott Thomson

Clementini's wages are a mere quid below that of the other three tied at fourth place. His 25k wages also rank him in the 700k a season club. Clementini has a lot in common with Murillo, the young Spaniard we mentioned earlier.

Clementini is a physically strong defender for his age, good in the air, capable of making decisions and brave and decisive in the duels. His positioning is not all that yet, but he more than makes up for that with his tenacity in marking a forward. Ideally, you'd want to pair Murillo and Clementini at the back. Wishful thinking eh?

8. Ivica Basic - MC - 23,000 wages - Big-Time Charlies, manager Dean Smith

Manager Dean Smith likes his youngsters I suppose. Not in a Michael Jackson kind of way naturally... He does spend extravagant wages on his young starlets. Though Basic' wages are not as high as the 55k he pays Paauwe, 23k a day is still a lot of cash which adds up to 644k a season. Between these two high wage starlets, Dean is paying them 78k a day... That's half the wage budget for some teams and comes down to 2,184 million a season.

Basic is a very young midfielder with decent all-round qualities so far. It's a bit too soon to predict if he can actually develop into a top notch player, so I'm unsure about this high wage investment.

9. Alexander Azovskiy - ST - 22,000 wages - Goals R Us FC, manager Luke Edmond

Surprisingly enough, youth manager par excellence Luke Edmond is only in 9th place in this list with his German forward Azovskiy. Luke has the record for the highest total sums spent and received on youths, but he seems fairly moderate in his wages.

Azovskiy is a fast and lethal forward, ready for senior football, despite only being 18 years old. The lad should be able to hold his own between seniors, which is backed up by his track record so far this season.

10. Ale - GK - 21,259 wages - Fleetwood FC, manager David Kennedy

The last player in this top 10 is another goalie. Brazilian goalie Ale is making 595k a season at Fleetwood FC, despite the club being outside of the top 500 in the Game World rankings. Ale was a bargain buy at 63k but high wages a few seasons ago and has since started developing well.

The young Brazilian ranks amongst the best newgen goalies in the GameWorld, so the money on his wages was not wasted. If he keeps developing like this, he will be a decent four star reputation goalie by the time he becomes a senior. Since the auto protect will extend several seasons beyond that, he will basically have a classy keeper for a fair price.

Greetings fellow Altobellians,

We, the moderators and FA organisers of this Game World, have come up with a few ideas to keep the community spirit alive and kicking. In this short introduction mail, we will run these ideas by you briefly.

First of all, let us introduce you to our new Game World newspaper, the Altobellian. You can find this at . This blog will feature match reports, previews, predictions, interviews and various other items.

The nice part of it is that you can be part of it too. If you want to contribute, just send in a message and it'll get published on the blog. Of course, you can reply to the blog items as well, there isn't even a need to register a blogspot account.

Secondly, we want to introduce a prediction league. Our new FA organizer Andy will pick five real life and five FML games every week and post them on the blog. You can reply on the blog with your predictions for said games.
